We are pleased to announce that after two years of litigation, we won our lawsuit against Impulse Software, the developers of the software bots to RuneScape iBOT.
The announcement that they have posted on their website pretty much sums up the situation:
"Farewell.
We (Mark / Eric Snellman, acting under the name Impulse Software) have been the owners and managers of websites www.rscheata.net, www.impsoft.net and www.oembots.com for several years. Through these sites, we made money by developing a software called bots iBOT, which works exclusively on RuneScape.
We were sued by Jagex in the United States on the basis of the legality of this program and the actions we have taken in the past two years.
Recently, the courts have ruled in favor of Jagex on all counts in the trial. We need to pay a large sum to Jagex, we can not reveal the amount for legal reasons. An injunction also prevents us to perform a number of things in the future, including developing software bots, help other people develop or use software bots or mention Jagex, the lawsuit or RuneScape. If we do not respect the terms of the injunction (for example, developing a new software bots, or helping people cheat in RuneScape), we will pay at least $ 1 000 000 to Jagex.
During this process, we understood the evil that caused bots to RuneScape and Jagex. We wish to apologize to Jagex and to all legitimate RuneScape players for the damage caused by iBOT.
In the coming weeks, our websites, our domain names, and data on our codes and our customers will be forwarded to Jagex, and the information we have on people who have developed scripts for iBOT and sold or resold with these scripts.
We also never get closer Jagex or any of its games. In fact, since the outcome of this trial, we are forbidden to play RuneScape or any other Jagex game.
Very soon, all references to iBOT and Impulse Software will disappear internet. We encourage those of you who are in possession of his iBOT software or scripts to destroy and not try to use or develop. They are not any more operational way from killing bots, but if you manage to get it working again, you risk the same proceedings as those committed against us by Jagex.
Mark and Eric Snellman, acting under the name Impulse Software "
This course represents a great victory for us, but it is also one of our latest initiatives in our ongoing fight against bots and against those who use RuneScape to make money. We continue this struggle to provide a fun and sustainable game our players respected community, and we do not expect us to stop there.
We continue to work tirelessly to ensure the success of our day killing bots is not wasted, trying to constantly have an edge in the race against the developers of bots and those who profit from our game to make money. We develop a new generation anti-bot software, called Optimus and released very soon. We also develop other methods to remove the remaining bots in. We will also continue to fight people who use RuneScape so dishonest.
Our team devotes all its efforts to find solutions to past performance issues that may have been aware of some players since the day of killing bots, and soon we will emerge an update that should address these issues. We are also working on future updates to make the game more accessible and improve its performance.
Enjoy!
